Welcome to the 10th annual Google Fast-a-Thon to raise money for malnourished children living in South Sudan and around the globe.

\n

\nIn July, we will officially launch our 2018 campaign with a special focus on South Sudan. For five years, the world’s youngest country has been at war. Violence has displaced more than four million people with two and a half million fleeing into nearby countries. Parts of South Sudan slipped into famine last year, and this year’s harvest was a record low, forcing food prices to remain high. The UN warns that nearly two thirds of people (seven million) could become food insecure in the coming months in South Sudan - with around 155,000 people (including 29,000 children) that could suffer from extreme levels of hunger, such as severe acute malnutrition.

\nAction Against Hunger has been working on the front lines in South Sudan since 1985, delivering lifesaving programs to malnourished children that need urgent care and treatment. Action Against Hunger operates 31 mobile nutrition clinics and two inpatient stabilization centers in remote parts of South Sudan. These mobile clinics allow health workers to quickly reach communities in hard to reach areas, as well as families on the move who are fleeing from fighting. In the clinics, children get weighed, measured, and if found to be severely malnourished, are given a lifesaving peanut based nutritional paste known as Plumpy’Nut. When children need additional and more intensive treatment they are taken to Action Against Hunger’s stabilization centers.

\nWelcome to the 10th annual Google Fast-a-Thon to raise money for malnourished children living in South Sudan and around the globe.

\n

\nIn July, we will officially launch our 2018 campaign with a special focus on South Sudan. For five years, the world’s youngest country has been at war. Violence has displaced more than four million people with two and a half million fleeing into nearby countries. Parts of South Sudan slipped into famine last year, and this year’s harvest was a record low, forcing food prices to remain high. The UN warns that nearly two thirds of people (seven million) could become food insecure in the coming months in South Sudan - with around 155,000 people (including 29,000 children) that could suffer from extreme levels of hunger, such as severe acute malnutrition.\n

\n

Action Against Hunger has been working on the front lines in South Sudan since 1985, delivering lifesaving programs to malnourished children that need urgent care and treatment. Action Against Hunger operates 31 mobile nutrition clinics and two inpatient stabilization centers in remote parts of South Sudan. These mobile clinics allow health workers to quickly reach communities in hard to reach areas, as well as families on the move who are fleeing from fighting. In the clinics, children get weighed, measured, and if found to be severely malnourished, are given a lifesaving peanut based nutritional paste known as Plumpy’Nut. When children need additional and more intensive treatment they are taken to Action Against Hunger’s stabilization centers. \n
